Resellers purchase software from another company,
and sell the software at a higher price to another
company (or a consumer).
Resellers will often have technical expertise
in the product lines that they are authorized
to resell.
Resellers come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Some resellers add little value, they focus on
volume and define themselves by price. Other resellers
focus on service and define themselves by their
expertise.
By creating a strong reseller network software
developers are able to extend their sales force.
Reseller discounts can vary greatly. Some discounts
are based on quantity while others are simply
a percentage off of the list price. Determine
the value of resellers to your business and establish
reseller policies. If you want resellers to work
hard provide them incentives and steep discounts.
