Should I offer phone support?
It depends on the type of application you are selling. If you are selling an inexpensive consumer application you can likely forgo offering phone support, if you are selling a high-end business application your customers are going to expect telephone support. Keep in mind that support does not need to be an expense you can sell premium support and add to your bottom line.
