Idem is a software utility that enables users to automate file
synchronization and replication. Idem secures critical data
duplicating from one computer location to another. It is a good
solution for 'mirroring' important folders from a Windows NT server
toward another. You can also use it for synchronizing a laptop with
network folders. Idem is distinguishable from other expensive
mirroring or clustering products by its ability to fully preserve
Macintosh filenames and structures stored on a Windows NT server.
Main features:
- runs on 95/98/NT4/NT2000,
- supports UNC folder names,
- can include sub-folders in mirroring,
- fully preserves Macintosh filenames (with peculiar characters like
/, , etc.) and structures (data+resource),
- can mirror opened files using it with the third party product Open
File Handler (Swat Consulting Inc.),
- can check and copy the files and folders attributes and security
informations (DACL permissions),
- can rename moved Macintosh files, substituting a dash to the
forbidden Windows characters in their names (/, , etc.) and adding
a Windows extension,
- can run as a Windows NT Service,
- archive mirroring operations in Log files,
- Languages: English, French, Portuguese.
Special requirements: Visual Basic 6.0 runtime (available on Simtel.Net
as simvb6-5.zip).
