Description by publisher
The utility MTS, whose name is inspired to TS ( Text Search , the celebrated piece of software from Norton Utilities), looks for files which contain one or more given strings. MTS has the ability of searching several strings (up to a maximum of 250 strings), selecting files which contain at least one occurrence of each given string, and providing fast and accurate tally of detected occurrences. You may either browse selected files by means of a file viewer built in the program or process them globally (e.g., you may collect a set of selected files into a packed archive). Searching is performed within files matching a suitable file specification, which may include the jolly characters * and ? . Some options are available to provide control over file searching (lower and upper boundaries of file size, maximum subdirectory level, exclusion or inclusion of binary and hidden files, forcing exclusion or inclusion of files with certain extensions). Any character is allowed in search. Both interactive and command-line driven processes are supported. Global management of selected files is supported via file list logging and batch procedures. Redirection of input/output is available (when applicable). Selected parameters are maintained across sessions by saving information into an initialization file. On-line help and command-line help are provided. See the included user's guide MTS.TXT for more information.
