Software Media Kit Effective Titles

Writing a title is much like writing a news headline. In some cases, the title can be more important than the actual content. Let's face it, if the title does not grab the attention of the viewer, they are unlikely to read the actual content. Therefore, it is imperative that webmasters, marketers, and publishers become skilled in the art of writing effective titles.

Follow these tips to write an effective title...

Longer Is Better
Longer titles statistically have a higher click-through rate than shorter titles. Also, eye-tracking studies clearly indicate that longer titles are more widely read.

Attention Grabber
The headline should attract the reader's attention. Use action words, or descriptive terms that will attract the attention of the reader. The headline should motivate the reader to continue reading.

Keyword Rich
Titles should contain keywords. This will not only help search engines, but will also allow readers to contextualize the content contained in the associated article.

Unique
Lets face it, no one is going to read something on your website that they have already seen on many other sites. Titles need to be unique in order to draw attention.

Related
The content of the piece must be reflected in the title. In other words, sensationalizing a title that does not relate to the content is not going to benefit anyone, neither you nor your reader.

Easy To Read
Titles should be easy to read, and should use proper syntax. The title should appear in a distinguishable font. Avoid using scripted fonts that are ornate but difficult to read, and don't use ALL-CAPS in your titles.

Standout
Titles should be formatted to stand out on a web page or in copy. They should be bolded, or appear in a larger font, or in a different color. The idea is to attract the readers attention, both visually and with the actual copy.

Titles help readers form a first impression about your product, service, or website, so use the above tips to help make a positive impression.
