Affiliates can be an asset to your business,
but its important that you spell out the terms
of any reseller or affiliate agreements.
That means you need to answer some difficult
questions:
1. Will you allow affiliates to use the
product names or your company name to advertise
and promote your product? (ie. can they purchase
Adwords)
2. Can your affiliates generate coupons
and offer a discount on your software? (the coupons
might come out of their commission)
3. Will affiliates be restricted from
promoting your software using email? Can they
promote your software using email addresses that
are from opt-in lists?
4. Can affiliates modify promotional graphics
to meet their needs?
5. Do affiliates need approval, or is
everyone accepted in the program?
6. Can affiliates purchase the software
for themselves and earn an affiliate commission?
7. Can affiliates be disabled if they
breach their guidelines? Will they still be compensated
for pending sales if their affiliate contract
is terminated?
Defining clear affiliate terms will help ensure
that affiliate relationships remain positive and
productive.
