How do I discontinue a software application?

Often developers will convert a product that is languishing to freeware, allowing users to continue to use the software but due to its "free" status, support is no longer available. When discontinuing an application simply state that the software is available free of charge but will not be supported. If there is a large existing user base, consider opening a user forum, where existing users can support other users.

If there is little interest after a period of time, remove the product completely. If you still want to capture the traffic from the product setup redirects on the pages that refer to the product.
