How long should our software evaluation period be?
It depends on what the software is used for. If the software is for restoring files a long trial period will not encourage users to purchase. Keep in mind you are selling the difference between the evaluation and registered versions. If the customer only needs to use the software once and it is fully functional there is no incentive for the customer to purchase.
