Should I offer a paid support option?
It depends on the type of application that you are selling. If you sell a consumer application offering paid support will not help your sales, in fact users may think they have to pay to get any type of support and may opt for a competitors application.
If you sell enterprise applications or business applications that are critical to operations, offering paid support might actually help sales. Many large companies expect to pay for support, and when they do not see it as an option they assume that support is not going to be at the level they require. Consider offering free email or forum support and a paid phone support option.
