I am a developer and want to write software. Where to you get ideas of a software application?
The most successful applications fill a need. Look in areas you are familiar and have a history. Will software help make things run better? Will an application improve performance, functionality or productivity?
If you can find and fill a need, there is a good chance your application will succeed as it is likely that others will have a similar need.
