How do you decide what feature requests to include in an application?

Customers will likely suggest a number of features that they would like to see in your application. Sometimes the suggestions are great, sometimes the features will only benefit a small group of customers or potential customers. Deciding what to include and what not to include can sometimes be a challenge.

Track feature suggestions and if you see multiple requests, chances are the feature will help sell your software. Another factor to consider when determining what features to include, is the amount of development effort that will be required. Sometimes small features can be added with very little effort.

Sometimes customers will be willing to pay for a specific feature addition. Developers can charge for software modifications and customizations which can then be later incorporated into a release version. If the feature will take significant development time and will not benefit a large group consider charging for the feature.
